Kodoani.com – Mangano application has officially announced a new manga contest called “The Mangano Grand Prize” on Wednesday. The contest offers contestants the opportunity to be scouted by 10 top manga publishers such as Shinchosha, Mag Garden, Kadokawa, Kodansha, Square Enix, Shogakukan, Shueisha, Coamix, Hakusensha, and Akita Publishing. Editors from these 10 companies will jointly evaluate the entries.
The top prize is 2 million yen (about US$13,200), the second prize is 500,000 yen (about US$3,300), the consolation prize is 100,000 yen (about US$660), and the final prize is 30,000 yen (about 300 USD). Participants can submit entries through the app until February 15 at 11:59 p.m. JST (9:59 a.m. EST). The results will be published on the Mangano website in the summer.
The Mangano app is a collaboration between Shueisha and Hatena’s Shōnen Jump+ manga app. Users can submit original comics on the site and read other users’ comics. Only positive comments are allowed on the site.
In addition, World Maker service, the storyboarding application for Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ publisher, also launched an animation contest on November 1, in which the winning work will be adapted into an animated short film.
