Anime adaptation of Yukiko Nozawa’s 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really, Love You! aired from October 8 to December 24 last year. The show is currently streaming via Crunchyroll and is animated by Bibury Animation Studios. A second anime season was confirmed shortly after the first season’s finale.
The film revolves around the life of Rentaro Aijou, an unhappy person who wants nothing more than to be embraced. However, fate only gave him difficulties. Faced with the pain of being rejected multiple times, he went to a matchmaking district. While there, he lamented his fate in life and was informed by the temple’s resident deity that love would soon find him, and that it would be overwhelmingly so.
Soon, the girls will be surrounding Rentaro like America is about to be surrounded by cicadas. An apocalyptic number of them are coming. Believing this to be an exaggeration, Rentaro goes about his daily life and realizes that the level of love in his life is about to skyrocket. However, that newfound affection comes at a high price.
