Tomohito Ōsaki’s side story about Ginpachi Sakata as a high school teacher
Kodoani.com – The Gintama Ato no Matsuri event announced on Sunday that 3-Nen Z-Gumi Ginpachi-Sensei (Class 3-Z’s Teacher Ginpachi), Tomohito Ōsaki’s side novel series from Hideaki Sorachi’s Gintama manga, is getting an anime adaptation.
Ōsaki’s spin-off novel series is set at Gintama High School and follows teacher Ginpachi Sakata (despite having the personality or appearance befitting a teacher) and his students. The story first debuted in 2006. Shueisha published the latest volume of the novel series in 2018. Sorachi is credited as the author of the original work.
3 -Nen Z-Gumi Ginpachi-Sensei was previously animated as a short at the end of several Gintama anime episodes.
Sorachi’s original “sci-fi comedy” manga began in 2003 and ended in June 2019 with over 55 million copies in circulation. The manga has inspired several animated television series with a total of 367 episodes, as well as three previous animated series. The latest anime series premiered in July 2018. The manga has also inspired numerous OVAs, event anime, two live-action films, and two live-action spinoffs.
Gintama THE VERY FINAL final anime based on the finale of the original manga, incorporating new story elements, opened in Japan in January 2021.
The manga also adapted an online anime special titled Gintama The Semi-Final with a story that serves as a two-episode prequel to the series. The net anime premiered exclusively in Japan on the online dTV service in January 2021. The series also features a novel by Mirei Miyamoto published in January.
