Riot has officially announced to us some information about the upcoming World Championship 2022 in North America later this year.
The 2022 League of Legends World Championship will kick off on September 29 in Mexico and end on November 5 in San Francisco. Specifically:
Play-Ins Round: takes place from September 29 to October 4 at the Arena Esport stadium of Artz Pedregal in Mexico City. Group Stage: October 7-10 and October 13-16 at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Quarterfinals: October 20-23 at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Semifinals: competed on October 29 and October 30 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Finals: compete on November 5 at Chase Center in San Francisco County, California.
This year’s Worlds has 24 teams from all over the world participating. However, the LCL region (Russia) could not participate in this Worlds. And the LCL Worlds slot will be ceded to the region with the best performance in the last 2 years of international tournaments with less than 4 participating slots: Europe (LEC).
12 out of 24 teams will start at the Play-Ins round:
China (LPL): Seed 4 Korea (LCK): Seed 4 Europe (LEC): Seed 3 and 4 North America (LCS): Seed 3 Southeast Asia (PCS): Seed 2 Vietnam (VCS) Seed 2 Brazil (CBLOL): Seed 1 Japan (LJL): Seed 1 Latin America (LLA): Seed 1 Oceania (LCO): Seed 1 Turkey (TCL): Seed 1
The remaining 12 teams will start the tournament from the Group Stage:
