Game adds Tekken store in late February to early March 2024 update, DLC character Eddy in spring
Kodoani.com – Bandai Namco Entertainment officially announced on Monday that the game Tekken 8 has surpassed 2 million copies sold globally.
The story in the latest version of the series, Tekken 8takes place nearly six years after the success of Tekken 7. This new record has been recognized by Guinness World Records, confirming that the Tekken brand owns the longest story in the history of the gaming industry.
Tekken 8 was officially launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via the Steam platform on January 26. The game at launch gave players a total of 32 different characters to choose from.

Notably, the game will be updated with a new Tekken store, offering both free and paid additional content, expected from late February to early March 2024. One of the featured DLC characters is Eddy, which is expected to be released in the spring. The update also expands the stories of DLC characters in story mode. Furthermore, Tekken World Tour will be added in the third update in April. The store will receive one or two updates each month, starting with the UNIQLO UT x Tekken pack as the first free content for players. A story mode will be added for new characters in the summer, helping to shed light on their situation in the game’s main story. These stories will be presented as free expansions to the main storyline, rather than released as individual episodes for each character.
The anime series Tekken: Bloodline, which continues the story of the fighting game Tekken 3, was released on Netflix in August 2022.
