First revealed in May, Concord went from being Sony's new hopeful title to being heavily criticized for a myriad of reasons.
Notably, the game was a superhero shooter in an already saturated market, and it was priced at $39.99. In addition, the fact that it was released at the same time and accepted to “confront” Black Myth: Wukong made it even easier to forget. Concord's record low player count on Steam, with the highest number being just under 700, further demonstrates Concord's disastrous failure.
And as fast as the wind, Concord, after a few days of launch, is preparing to stop operating this September, refunding all money to gamers who have purchased and owned it.
Now, the only mark that makes Concord “existing” is its physical copies. Coincidentally, because of this too-quick closure, copies of Concord are becoming “limited” items. What's even more surprising is that its value on eBay is being inflated quickly, which few people expected.
Accordingly, although the selling price of Concord is only around $39.99, currently, its physical PlayStation 5 disc version is being sold on eBay for an average price of $159.99 (4 times the original price). Even more absurdly, some speculators are selling this product for $25,000 (about 625 million VND, 625 times the original price). The most valuable item is probably the Concord Limited Edition PS5 DualSense controller, which was once sold for $84.99. But now on eBay, the price of this controller has increased to $199.99 and $299.99. Notably, there are still a certain number of gamers who have spent money to own this “limited” controller.
It seems that speculators are being a bit hasty because Sony's decision does not mean that Concord will be unavailable forever. The developer itself also said that they are looking for options to better reach players, and it is very likely that a free version of Concord will be released if Sony decides to revive the project one day.
