The latest moves of Riot Games have shown the determination of the design team in reducing smurf in Valorant.
Smurf (also known by the more affectionate name “chicken onion”) is a very painful problem, a thorn in the hearts of gamers of most highly competitive games, of course Valorant is not. Exception. Accordingly, there are many gamers who have the act of creating 2 sub-accounts to compete with players of lower level than themselves to let themselves feel a “happy” experience. Or Smurf players create secondary accounts to play with their friends, helping that person climb the rank easily.
And surely, it would be very uncomfortable for anyone to encounter a smurf. Understanding that problem, Riot Games recently revealed a new feature system, to limit smurf in Valorant matches, including normal shooting.

Currently being tested in NA. Starting with today’s patch, all new accounts will be matched up with players similar to their skill levels faster to prevent smurfing.

Specifically, this system will be put to the test right at the next version on the North American (NA) server. New accounts will now be paired with similarly qualified players based on performance more radically to limit smurf. In a nutshell, Riot’s AI will calculate and analyze player parameters to match the best match.
And of course with a smurf, they will not be able to ‘act’ forever under the guise of a ‘newbie’ because that will be like they are making themselves miserable. The core of this is to analyze the player’s information more carefully and match directly with players with similar stats. Of course, occasionally ‘getting in’ will not cause players to encounter pro-players. But constantly getting clucth or total MVP situations will definitely get these accounts listed and paired with other players of equal skill.
This is a very positive move by Riot Games when smurf is now rampant in Valorant. Creating a new account is so easy that this game has now become one of the esports games with the highest percentage of smurfing players in the esports scene at the moment.
