The incident is causing the Valorant community not only in China and internationally to stir when there is a racist act against an Iranian player.
Although Valorant has been out for a long time, it has only been officially released in China until now. Thanks to that, many professional teams appeared to attend tournaments organized by Riot Games. However, attending major tournaments too soon also causes players in this region to reveal many behaviors that are considered unprofessional.
Typically, a recent case at the VCT Champions tournament within the Chinese qualifying framework broke out a drama involving two teams Monarch Effect (ME) and Royal Never Give Up (RNG). Accordingly, the incident is said to be that the Iranian player of RNG accused ME of racist behavior against him while playing in the Chinese Valorant tournament.
Specifically, this player wrote on his personal page: “After map 2 (Haven), some players or managers called me houzi (monkey) at the toilet, they wore ME jerseys and in the next map. follow them keep making monkey sounds GG ME 1-2 (RNG), you guys are good at shooting, but *** guys, make my “debut” day lan (offline competition) not fun”.
Also on the same day of competition, ME had a victory over RNG to win tickets to the international Valorant Champions 2023. In addition to Swerl, his teammate Xiaonuo also confirmed that the Iranian player had was discriminated against on the very last day of the competition.
It is known that Swerl has now deleted his post and added: “I have to delete it because there is an investigation going on, I know what I heard, but the law is the law.” Currently, BTC has not yet announced any results of the investigation, if ME really acts racist, they will be severely punished.
