Gamers have been waiting for Fallout 5 for quite a while, but if Bethesda releases a remake of an old Fallout game, the wait won’t be too bad.
Todd Howard has officially confirmed that a sequel to the Fallout series is in development, but gamers still have to wait a long time. Before Fallout 5 launches, Bethesda is hoping to release The Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield first. Starfield is slated to launch in 2023, but The Elder Scrolls 6 is still in pre-production and could be a long way off. This means that Fallout fans will be left with almost no game from the series in years to come. The only option is new Fallout content for Fallout 76, otherwise gamers will only be able to replay one of the older titles in the series.
The last single-player Fallout game came out in 2015, and Bethesda’s next RPG Starfield is due out in 2023. It’s been an eight-year wait between Bethesda’s major titles and if The Elder Scrolls 6 follows that pattern, it could only be released seven to eight years after Starfield. Then Fallout 5 will be even longer, which means Fallout fans may have to wait for something new from their favorite franchise for nearly a decade. It’s been a long wait, and the studio needs to deliver some sort of Fallout content outside of Fallout 76 to get people through until then.
This could be the longest wait between Fallout games
The gaming community doesn’t know how long the wait for Fallout 5 will be, but it looks like it will be a huge amount of time. If no Fallout-themed titles come out during that wait, it will be the longest wait between Fallout games fans have ever had. The gap between Bethesda’s Fallout titles has always been long, but this wait could take it to the next level, especially if no other studio has made a Fallout game in the meantime. The previous record for time between titles in the Fallout universe was 5 years, and this wait will most likely beat that record.
Not every Fallout title is a big Bethesda RPG as we already have so many spin-off titles in the series. These spin-offs are often released in between Bethesda’s main games and are a way to keep the franchise alive while the studio works on the next major title. These spin-off games include Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel, Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout Shelter, and Fallout 76. These spin-off games are all different sizes and genres, but they all serve the same purpose. aims to give Fallout fans fresh content.
The most recent Fallout spin-offs were Fallout Shelter and Fallout 76. Fallout Shelter debuted around Fallout 4 and was a lot of fun, but Fallout 76 has now become the focal point of the series. Bethesda can continue to roll out full Fallout 76 content in the meantime, but the studio needs to do more for fans. Fallout 76 may have been fun with friends, but it was not well received and left a slight stain on the series. Fallout fans need some other kind of game to stay entertained until Fallout 5 comes out, even if that’s simply in the form of Fallout re-releases.
The Elder Scrolls has had several releases pending the main game of the series
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim came out in 2011, and The Elder Scrolls 6 is still struggling in development. The game is said to be still in pre-production, which means that fans of The Elder Scrolls have to go through as much of a wait as gamers waiting for Fallout 5. However, the The Elder Scrolls community. Elder Scrolls has a steady stream of content to enjoy during this time. Some of the content is side-games and some of the content is simply a new version of Skyrim. Each release is a way to keep the The Elder Scrolls franchise alive and give fans a reason to keep coming back to the series.
Since the release of Skyrim, Bethesda has re-released the game several times. The majority of these re-releases serve as remasters for the title, and the most recent re-release also includes a bunch of new content with built-in mods. Along with the remasters, a VR version of the game for those who want a more realistic Tamriel experience is also being released. Fans also have no shortage of new content to enjoy as Bethesda launches The Elder Scrolls Blades and continuously expands Tamriel through The Elder Scrolls Online.
A Fallout Remaster or Remake needs to be released
The Elder Scrolls and Fallout both seem to be in similar situations when it comes to the expected distance between major installments, but Bethesda has treated The Elder Scrolls in a somewhat more biased way. There’s not even a hint that Fallout 4 will receive a special or anniversary edition, and that should be about to change. Skyrim’s re-releases have popped up so much that it’s become a meme over the years, but each re-release has also performed very well and has kept people coming back. A Fallout 4 remaster could do the same thing, driving players back to The Commonwealth through new and improved features.
Re-releasing Fallout 4 in the meantime would be a nice step to keep the franchise alive for a long time, but there are other games in the series that could also launch a remaster or remake. Reworking or remaking old games tends to be easier to do than creating a brand new game, and there are a few games in the series that fans would love to re-enjoy. Many Fallout fans have fallen in love with Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3, and they could look great with an upgrade.
Bethesda doesn’t have to do this alone either, as Xbox Game Studios has a ton of different studios that can support them. One of those studios is Obsidian Entertainment, the company responsible for producing Fallout: New Vegas. The studio could be given the chance to remake one of the most fan-favorite installments in the series, and fans are sure to be delighted.
The series’ fanbase doesn’t know what the future holds, and Bethesda may have some big plans to keep players with Fallout beyond Fallout 76. However, the company hasn’t given much indication of that and many games. The player wondered when we would be able to explore the wasteland again. The Fallout series shouldn’t go on hiatus until Fallout 5 comes out, and a remake would be the best way to avoid that.
