The former CEO of G2 Esports said he is willing to do anything to protect the company and his colleagues, his resignation is proof of that.
A week ago, G2 Esports became the focus of the Western gaming community when the CEO of this organization – ocelote attended a party with a character with anti-feminist behavior. Although G2 later announced the suspension and penalty of 8 weeks ocelote salary, the gaming community did not seem to be satisfied, constantly shouting for G2 to remove this CEO from the organization.
As a result, G2 recently announced that ocelote is leaving the CEO position of this organization.
Notice from G2.
“G2ARMY,
It’s been a tough week for us because of the events of the past weekend. Today we received and accepted the news that Carlos (ocelote) resigned from the position of CEO of G2 Esports.
As a global esports organization with a diverse fan base around the world, we have a responsibility to our fans as well as to our staff, players, and partners around the world. In this notice, we want to emphasize that we do not endorse discrimination against women of any kind. We will continue to prioritize promoting inclusivity and supporting a diverse gaming community.
We will continue to uphold the legacy of G2 with the trust and passion of G2ARMY. Thank you.” – G2 Esports announced on Twitter.
Currently, ocelote is no longer the CEO of G2.
After this information was spread on the online community, the former CEO of G2 also shared on his personal Twitter that: “G2 is above Carlos (ocelote) and always will be. I am willing to do whatever it takes to protect the company and my colleagues, as it is my unconditional obligation to them.”
As for the gaming community, some people expressed regret when ocelote had to leave the G2 CEO seat. But on the contrary, there were also many people who were gloating and even teased the ocelote with comments like “Can I have a free G2 hoodie?” (referring to the ocelote that has left G2 and no longer needs this team’s jersey).
