Kodoani.com – Magazine Weekly Shonen Sunday No. 48 of Shogakukan announced on Wednesday that the manga Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san (Makanai in the Maiko Lodge) của Aiko Koyama will begin its finale in the magazine's next issue, due out on October 30. This manga previously paused in August and resumed serialization on September 4.
Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san Set in a geisha district hanamachi in Kyoto, where geishas, after finishing their evening work, return to their inns to rest and prepare for the next day. The story revolves around the character Breedinga girl from Aomori, worked as a cook at a geisha motel after graduating from junior high school. She has a close friend named Sumireone countries (apprentice geisha).
Koyama launched the manga in the magazine Weekly Shonen Sunday in December 2016, and Shogakukan published the 27th volume on September 11. The series has won awards Best Shōnen Manga in Shogakukan Manga Award 65th in January 2020.
The manga has also been adapted into an anime with the title Kiyo in Kyoto: From the Maiko Housepremiered above NHK World in February 2021 with English subtitles, and stream on Crunchyroll. Additionally, the manga inspired the film series live-action titled The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko Housedebuted on Netflix globally in January 2023.
