Kodoani.com – Bandai Namco Entertainment announced during the Summer Game Fest broadcast on Thursday that it is producing an action RPG based on the manga. SAND LAND by Akira Toriyama will launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, although the company hasn’t announced a release date. ILCA is developing the game.
Dive into a desert world where both humans and demons suffer from severe water shortages. Role-play and watch the Devil’s Prince, Beelzebub, Sheriff Rao and the Demon Thief embark on an adventure in search of the legendary Spring hidden in the desert. Describing himself as the “super villain”, Beelzebub has a pure heart like a boy but has superhuman strength and telepathic abilities. Rao, a sheriff of a small town, seeks the help of the devil to save the entire Sand Land from water shortage. Thief, a wise old demon with the ability to steal, also accompanies Beelzebub and Rao on their adventure.
As Beelzebub, the player will be able to explore a vast world with his unbelievable group of demons and humans. Whether traveling by various means of transport or on foot, players will encounter dangers as well as useful characters they encounter across the vast desert while uncovering the many secrets of SAND LAND. Vehicle and character combat is an important part of the action in the game. Players will have access to a variety of vehicles that they can customize and equip with accessories to traverse the desert, overcome obstacles, and confront a variety of mighty enemies.
The Sand Land manga is a series of short stories that Toriyama serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from May to August 2000. Shueisha published a compiled book volume in November 2000.
The manga is adapting an anime that will premiere in Japan on August 18.
