Omuro-ke: Dear Friends, one of two films from the YuruYuri spinoff manga Omure-ke, will be released in theaters in Japan on June 21. Announcement images and videos were released as part of the Notification.
It is the second film from the spin-off manga Omure-ke, with the first film titled Omuro-ke: Dear Sisters premiering on February 2. Studio Passione and Studio Lings are producing the animation for both two films, with Naoyuki Tatsuwa directing. Masahiro Yokotani is writing the script, Kazuyuki Ueda is designing the characters, and Yusuke Shirato is composing the music.
Omure-ke is a spin-off manga to the YuruYuri manga series, written and illustrated by Namori. The spin-off began serialization in Nico Nico Seiga in July 2012. Meanwhile, the original manga began serialization in Ichijinsha’s Comic Yuri Hime S magazine from June 2008, before being adapted to Comic Yu Hime in September 2010.
J Manga, which previously licensed the YuruYuri series before the service was discontinued, described the plot as: Four mischievous girls illegally occupy the former Traditional Tea Ceremony club room, to become Established “Entertainment Club”. These scammers… ignored repeated warnings — directly rebelling against the Student Council’s legitimate directives — deciding to stay in the room until they were finally put out of their misery and do something! In this somewhat languid manga full of suitable beginnings, four girls depart from their homes to walk together with days filled with this and that!♪
The series has three anime seasons: the first season aired from July to September 2011, the second season aired from July to September 2012, and the third season aired from October to December 2015. There are also two OVAS, released in November 2014 and April 2018, respectively. It then received an original animated streaming series from DMM.Futureworks and W-Toon Studio in September 2019, consisting of four episodes.
