The film was originally slated to open in theaters on Netflix on March 31.
Kodoani.com – Anime movie official website Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King (Black Clover: Mahо̄tei no Ken announced on Friday that the film will be delayed from its original opening date of March 31 to June 16 due to the effects of the spread of COVID-19 on production. Netflix also confirmed that the series will premiere on the service on June 16.
Original manga creator Yūki Tabata is serving as the series’ main supervisor and original character designer. The staff from the television anime will return to the series. Ayataka Tanemura (Black Clover) is directing the film, Itsuko Takeda is designing the characters, and Minako Seki is composing the music.
Screenings of the film will give away a bonus book “Episode 23.5” to ticket purchasers. The book will feature character designs of the original characters from the film designed by Yūki Tabata, a short novel by film screenwriter Johnny Onda, and an interview with the voice actors. The book will only be available as a bonus during the first week of the film’s release and will be limited in quantity.
Toshihiko Seki will play Konrad Leto (Romanized English name has not been confirmed), a former Sorcerer King. Actress and model Marie Iitoyo will voice the original character Milly Maxwell (character name has not been confirmed). Fumiya Takahashi will play Jester Galandros (Romanization has not been confirmed), a mysterious sorcerer who is related to his predecessor, the sorcerer king. Miyuki Sawashiro will play Princia and Houchu Ohtsuka will play Edward (character name has not been confirmed) in the film.
