Kodoani.com – Vietnamese film distributor Lotte Cinema announced on Friday that it will premiere an anime movie adaptation of the novel. Lonely Castle in the Mirror (Kagami no Kojō) by Mizuki Tsujimura in Vietnam on June 30.
The film opened in Japan on December 23.
Keiichi Hara directed the film at A-1 Pictures . Miho Maruo, who wrote the scripts for Hara’s films Miss Hokusai and The Wonderland, wrote the script. Keigo Sasaki is designing the characters and is also the chief animation director. Russian artist Ilya Kuvshinov, who drew the character designs for The Wonderland, is noted for the visual concept and castle design. Harumi Fuuki, who composed music for Hara’s previous films, is back with this new film. Shochiku is distributing the film.
The Japan Academy Film Awards Association for Outstanding Film nominated the film for Animation of the Year in its 46th annual awards.
In a quiet neighborhood of Tokyo, seven teenagers wake up to find the mirror in their bedroom is shining.
With the touch of a hand, they are pulled out of their lonely lives to a magical castle with winding stairs, beautiful portraits and sparkling chandeliers. Tsujimura released the original novel in Japan in 2017. The novel won the 2018 Japan Bookstore Award, topped Da Vinci magazine’s 2017 Book of the Year list, and won the Grand Prize in King’s Brunch Book Prize 2017. Erewhon released the hardcover English edition of the novel on October 18.
