Anime Seven Deadly Sins will have an open-world action game for release on consoles, PC, and mobile devices.

The anime adaptation has become prominent on Netflix, being one of the most searched anime on the service. With a series as popular as this one, it’s no surprise that there will be a slew of game adaptations. A new game based on the Seven Deadly Sins has been revealed by Korean game studio Netmarble, the same developer of the aforementioned Grand Cross. Known as The Seven Deadly Sins Origin, the game will be a sequel to Netmarble’s mobile title, where instead of being limited to a turn-based RPG, the game will be expanded into a wide underworld. players can explore, as well as a new protagonist.
The game will feature an open world with a number of playable characters from the manga and anime, including some of the main characters from the Seven Deadly Sins. The trailer features playable versions of Meliodas, Merlin, Diane, and Elizabeth. Like other open world games like Genshin Impact or Breath of the Wild, the environments are varied and quite colorful, in keeping with the anime aesthetic. This can be seen when Meliodas runs through fields while it rains, or dives underwater to find hidden treasures.
Members of the Seven Deadly Sins can be seen assisting in combat or the underworld. For example, Merlin can use dark magic to help drive away enemies, or Meliodas can summon Diane to create a pillar that helps the character reach new heights. Other gameplay mechanics such as a stamina meter when clinging to a rock face or gliding can also be seen in the trailer.
With the game being a sequel to The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross, Netmarble is describing an origin story that continues to expand the franchise’s multiverse. This includes the introduction of a new protagonist, Tristan, as he explores the continent of Britannia that has been warped by time and space. Seven Deadly Sins Origin also seems to put a lot of emphasis on exploration and action elements, as seen with the characters’ movement options to travel around the world.
Seven Deadly Sins Origin is currently in development for PC, mobile devices and consoles.
