Kodoani.com – Kyoto Animation’s official website Sound! Euphonium revealed on Saturday that Sound! Euphonium 3, the third season of the anime, will premiere on April 7 and will air on NHK Educational on Sundays at 5 p.m. JST. The anime will have a total of 13 episodes.
Kyoto Animation is also broadcasting a video introducing the character Kumiko.
The first two episodes of the anime will air in Tokyo on March 16 and in Kyoto on March 17. The anime will adapt Kumiko’s third year of high school, with Haruka Tomatsu voicing the new character Mayu Kuroe.
Light novel author Ayano Takeda published the story of Kumiko’s third year of high school in two novel volumes. The first volume shipped in April 2019 and the second volume shipped in June 2019.

In the novel, the band is once again focused on winning the gold medal at Nationals. Kumiko serves as the new president, Shuuichi Tsukamaoto is the vice president, and Reina Kousaka is the drummer. New first years and transfer students join the band, with Mayu Kuroe a prominent euphonium player from Seira Girls’ School. Mayu was a notable presence in school competitions and was a member of the band Sapphire.
The 13-episode anime series premiered in April 2015. The anime adapted Gekijō-ban Hibike! Euphonium: Kitauji Kōkō Suisōgaku-Bu e Yōkoso, a “flashback” series aired in April 2016. The anime’s sequel, Sound! Euphonium 2, premiered in October 2016 and was adapted for Gekijō-ban Hibike! Euphonium: Todoketai Melody, a compilation series that aired in September 2017.
The film Liz and the Blue Bird, centered around Mizore Yoroizuka and Nozomi Kasaki, opened in Japan in April 2018. Sound! Euphonium The Movie – Our Promise: A Brand New Day, released in April 2019, follows Kumiko as a second-year student.
Tokubetsuhen Hibike! Euphonium: Ensemble Contest, a theatrical anime from Kyoto Animation’s “Ensemble Concert” section, opened in Japan on August 4 in 74 theaters. This is the first new anime in the series in four years.
