Kodoani.com – Central Japan Railway Company is teaming up with a new adaptation of the classic manga Urusei Yatsura to add more excitement to travel. From May 31, tourists can register on the official website of the cooperative organization to participate in listening to a special new TV series. In it, Lum (voiced by Sumire Uesaka) plans to go on a date with Ataru (voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya) on the train. However, he ran away… and now it's her turn to find him!
The play will be divided into three parts. The first part will focus on Lum and Ataru. For the second part, listeners can check in with one of three characters from the series to help Lum in his search. They will receive suggestions from Ten (CV Aoi Yuki), Mendo (CV Mamoru Miyano) or Shinobu (CV Maaya Uchida). Travelers can choose one character each day to assist them in their quest.
The finale will reunite Lum and Ataru, and will be shown at Animate stores across the train line. The stores will also sell collaborative merchandise featuring the new artwork: The event will run until June 30. Participants can also receive an acrylic coaster as part of the collaboration.
The new “Urusei Yatsura” is now streaming on HIDIVE.
It all started when aliens invaded and threatened to conquer Earth! However, one member of the human race is randomly chosen to duel the aliens and save the planet: Ataru Moroboshi, a dissolute slacker from Tomobiki High School, who reluctantly participates. All he has to do? Play a game of tag and catch Lum – the beautiful alien princess in a tiger striped bikini – by the horns. Unfortunately for Ataru, things aren't that simple, as Lum can fly and cause electric shocks! Persistence pays off, but when he captures her, Ataru experiences another shock: He is now Lum's betrothed “lover” and she won't be returning to her home planet anytime soon!
