TOHO Animation has released the video for an insert song in The Apothecary Diaries episode 19 titled “Blaze of Clear Sky” by Daichi Takenaka. The song appears at the end of the episode when main character Maomao is injured and carried away by Jinshi, heavily hinting at the young man’s true identity. As of press time, the song is ranked number two on the iTunes Store, while the video has received over 380k views. Watch The Apothecary Diaries episode 19 with song below:
Previous insert songs in The Apothecary Diaries include “Omoikaze” from episode 3, “Asu To Tazunete” from episode 9, and “Fflower in the Snow” from episode 12. Corresponding anime music videos were also released on TOHO’s YouTube page. as an official release on multiple streaming platforms. The anime’s soundtrack CD, including official exclusive artwork, will be released on April 17, 2023.
Daichi Takenaka is also known for his performance in the song The Ancient Magus’ Bride titled “Iruna Etelero (Lindel’s Flower Song) in Season 1, episodes 11 and 12. The singer also revealed that director Norihiro Naganuma had invited him back to perform for The Apothecary Diary. “Blaze of Clear Sky” is available on Spotify, Apple, Amazon and YouTube Music. Apothecary’s Diary (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) is a Japanese light novel series written by Lucy Hyuga and illustrated by Toko Shino. Shunfunotomo is currently publishing the series. The series also has two manga adaptations: the manga of the same name by Itsuki Nanao, illustrated by Nekokurage; and “The Apothecary’s Diary: A Handbook for Solving the Mystery of Mao Mao’s Palace Monastery” by Minoji Kurata. Square Enix’s Weekly Big Gangan and Shogakukan’s Monthly Sunday Gene-X published them in print respectively.
TOHO Animation and OML are currently responsible for the animation production for The Apothecary Diaries series, which is expected to have a total of 24 episodes. The ongoing series is available to watch on Netflix and Crunchyroll in select regions. New episodes are released every Saturday at 24:05 JST, while the English subtitled version releases one hour later. Crunchyroll describes the plot: Maomao lives a peaceful life with her medicine-selling father. Until one day, she was sold as a lowly servant to the emperor’s palace. But she has no intention of living a life of royal compliance. So when the royal heirs fell ill, she decided to step in and find a cure! This catches the eye of Jinshi, a handsome palace official, who promotes her. Now, she’s making a name for herself solving medical mysteries!
