In a new interview with Crunchyroll, Hiroyoki revealed that these characters were inspired to create Girlfriend, Girlfriend after discussing another romance manga. “I’m not inspired by anything specific, but in a meeting with my editor, when I suggested this story, they mentioned that in The Quintessential Quintuplets, a girl is chosen, ” Hiroyuki said and added, “While discussing how we felt It’s bad for girls not to be chosen, we wondered what it would be like to write a story in which everyone could be chosen. Hiroyuki further explained, saying that Girlfriend, Girlfriend was developed through a desire to use manga as a platform to tell stories that are not necessarily realistic. “I wanted to do something that couldn’t be done in the real world.
