Axis Unseen is an indie game just made by a former Skyrim developer and it’s more epic and “harder” than any Bethesda game.
One of the developers behind Starfield and Skyrim – Nate Purkeypile is making his own indie game, called The Axis Unseen and it looks bigger and more metallic than any Bethesda product. The game is an ambitious solo project made in Unreal Engine 5, but given its breadth of track record, Purkeypile seems to be quite up to the task. Although a release date has yet to be given, hopefully it won’t be too long before players can explore this new world.
In The Axis Unseen, players will hunt down folk monsters that are plotting to invade the human world. It’s an open world hunting game where the main character will use bows and arrows and they also seem to be able to use different types of arrows and powers from the monsters they hunt. In an interview on Nate Purkeypile about The Axis Unseen, he talks about the concept of the mundi axis – an alternate world that connects the real world – where these monsters originate, as well as the inspiration for the game. play, such as his love of metal music and his home state of Oregon.
The visuals of The Axis Unseen look very promising, with detailed forests and landscapes for players to explore. The soundtrack is described as “Primitive Metal” on Steam, and what has been revealed about it so far sounds very well suited to the game’s theme and environment. Composer is vocalist Bryant Clifford Meyer, who has worked in the bands Isis and Red Sparowes.
Axis Unseen is described as an open-world hunting horror game on Steam, and from the revealed images, that certainly looks accurate. According to Nate Purkeypile, the monsters look like creepy nightmares and are very vicious. The landscape is haunting, with eerie altars, skulls, and quirky structures scattered throughout. There is also the possibility of sudden jumps beyond the suspenseful environment, especially in densely wooded forests for monsters to hide in.
The hunting aspects of The Axis Unseen are also very detailed. Players will have to track their prey through footprints and bloodstains and it is very important to note the direction of the wind to prevent them from catching their scent. The monsters are worse than the most fearsome and terrifying enemies in Skyrim and players will be hunted by them as much as they themselves are. If they allow themselves to be discovered, they will suffer a grisly end. Thankfully, the game will feature monster diaries and sketches from hunters who came before them to help players learn about them and survive.
Overall, The Axis Unseen looks like it will have a lot of potential both in terms of gameplay and story. The concept of another world connecting the real world and influencing legends and myths around the globe sounds intriguing and it will be interesting to see how things turn out once the project is complete. Hopefully the plot and gameplay will be equally engaging, and there will be plenty of secrets for players to find in its Skyrim-style world. Nate Purkeypile has promised to keep development going, so more information about The Axis Unseen will be revealed in the future.
