A few weeks ago, the game Heroes of Newerth (HoN) was officially closed after more than 10 years of existence in the world gaming village. To this day, the international gaming community is talking about and worried that Heroes of the Storm (HotS) will “follow in HoN’s footsteps” and close in the near future.
More specifically, last June was the 7th anniversary of the launch of HotS, but Blizzard did not release any events or content to celebrate, but announced it would “abandon” this game:
“In the future, we will support HotS as we have done with other long-standing titles, StarCraft and StarCraft II. Going forward, we will continue to rotate seasonal content and free champions. But while the store is still open, we have no plans to launch more new content. Future updates will focus on bug fixes and game balance as needed.” – Blizzard announced on the HotS homepage.
In the past, HotS was also a famous name in the moba game village, it even caused a storm with interesting content no less than names like HoN, Dota 2, League of Legends, …
However, with Blizzard’s announcement, this game will fall into the “deadgame” scene and not receive any new content in the future. Of course, the community can still play this game like StarCraft and StarCraft II, but without new content it will be difficult for HotS to keep players in the current game market.
