Studio Nippon Animation is animating the series, with Seiji Kishi (Assassination Classroom) directing. Yuko Kakihara (Chihayafuru) is writing the series scripts and composing, while Kazuaki Morita is designing the characters.
Intro anime Blue Orchestra The first shows the main character, Aono, playing Pachelbel’s Canon on a riverbank. Japanese violinist Ryota Higashi will record the music for the adaptation.
The story follows Hajime Aono, who spent his childhood playing the violin. However, as he grew older, he stopped playing because he started to feel exhausted. He went to middle school and realized he didn’t know what to do with his life, which made it difficult for him to choose which direction to take for his education. One day, he meets Ritsuko Akine, whose dream is to enter a high school with a good orchestra club. Hajime finds himself drawing closer to Ritsuko and the more she pulls him back into the world of music…
Blue Orchestra is based on a manga by Makoto Akui, serialized since 2017 on Shogakukan’s Manga ONE app. Ten volumes are currently being released. The manga is yet to be licensed in English.
