Kodoani.com – Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday issue 49 has just announced that mangaka Kotoyama will launch a two-part short manga series titled Minasoko. The first part of the manga will appear in the magazine on November 6and the second part will follow shortly after in issue #51 on November 13. Minasoko will have a total of 90 pages, promising to bring readers an engaging and concise story.
Kotoyama's career journey
Kotoyama is a famous author in the Japanese manga community, known for works that are unique in both content and style. After completing Call of the Night (Yofukashi no Uta) in January this year, this will be Kotoyama's first short manga since then. Call of the Night debuted in Weekly Shonen Sunday in August 2019 and ended on January 24, 2023. The manga quickly attracted attention and inspired an anime adaptation that aired in July 2022, with service HIDIVE provides English subtitles for international audiences. Sentai Filmworks released the anime on Blu-ray in September 2023.
Before Call of the Night, Kotoyama made a big mark with Dagashi Kashilaunched in Weekly Shonen Sunday in June 2014 and ended in April 2018. The manga not only received love from readers but was also nominated for the 41st Kodansha Manga Awards in 2017. The first season of the 12-episode anime adaptation of Dagashi Kashi aired in January 2016 and was streamed by Funimation with subtitles and an English dub. The second season, also consisting of 12 episodes, premiered in January 2018 and was later released on home video by Funimation in October 2018.
