The punishment for employees who do not meet the KPIs of a technology company in China is to eat raw eggs.
A technology company in China has been accused of bizarre punishments for employees.
Specifically, a male student, after doing an internship at the above company, complained about a bad experience at this company on social networks. That is, employees must eat raw eggs if they do not sell enough products within the specified time, or do not meet other requirements for productivity of the company.
The male trainee’s accusations
The male student said that the management blatantly terminated his internship and kicked him out of the company because he did not agree with the above punishment. However, the file stated that the male student was expelled for “personal reasons”.
Immediately the online community was up, most of which criticized the bizarre punishment of this company. The public was even more outraged when a video appeared to show employees being forced to eat raw eggs in a very uncomfortable manner.

Many people consider this punishment to be immoral, possibly even breaking the law.
However, the company’s management is very normal and thinks that the punishment of eating raw eggs has been around for a long time and is very clearly stated in the company’s regulations, the fault is that the employees did not read carefully.
The male student shared more, when confronted with the human resources director, he received the answer:
“Is it illegal for you guys to eat raw eggs?”
The Department of Labor of Jinshui District (Zhengzhou City) has received the case and is conducting an investigation.
The inspectors said that it is not enough if only the male student makes a complaint because he is still a trainee, so the law cannot be applied to employees. However, if any employee comes forward and has enough evidence, they will immediately be prosecuted.
Responding to the press, the company representative said that the punishment of eating raw eggs is not really a “punishment”, it is both a deterrent and to encourage employees to be more responsible at work:
“Employees must be responsible for the work they are doing, the reward and punishment are also clearly defined, so I think there is no problem here.”
Bizarre punishments are not the first to appear in the Chinese workplace.
In 2019, 6 employees at a company in Shandong province had to crawl on the street in front of the company because they did not meet the set KPIs.

Some rather gruesome punishments such as eating cockroaches, stripping clothes, being beaten with a belt have also happened and even had the police intervene.
