Kodoani.com – Manga author Eiji Hashimoto revealed on his Twitter account on September 14 that the manga Chiruran: Shinsengumi Requiem (Chiruran: Shinsengumi Chinkon-ka) and Shinya Umemura will end with the manga’s 36th volume. The manga’s 34th volume is published on Tuesday.
The manga began its final volume with the 32nd volume on January 20.
Umemura provided the story and Hashimoto illustrated the manga. The duo launched the series in the first issue of Tokuma Shoten’s Monthly Comics magazine in 2010.
The Shinsengumi were a special police force in 19th century Japan. Initially tasked with protecting the shogunate, they eventually devoted themselves to restoring order in Kyoto. Hijikata Toshizo was responsible for the death of the Shinsengumi, but he was once one of them. This is his story.
The manga inspired a stage play that debuted in April 2017.
