Suzaku Kururugi was Lelouch vi Britannia’s childhood friend, and although their beginnings were a little rough, the two became close confidants.
However, as they grow older, their values become more and more distant, and Suzaku even betrays his old friend. The rest of the work sees them grapple with missions, goals, and past relationships.
Suzaku has had many enemies both inside and outside of the series. As the main antagonist that confronts Lelouch directly, he greatly hinders the protagonist’s progress. Furthermore, Suzaku tends to be hypocritical. There are many ways in which Suzaku Kururugi ruined the character’s grace and loveliness throughout Code Geass.
Lelouch says that Suzaku is a spoiled child
Suzaku Kururugi and Lelouch vi Britannia became friends when they were forced to live in close quarters due to political hardship.
Although the two don’t get along at first, Suzaku thinks Lelouch is spoiled and Lelouch is similar, eventually they become best friends.
However, political circumstances, family complications, and emotional trauma sustained by the precarious situation of both Lelouch and Suzaku’s families kept the two apart in the years that followed.
However, the audience is not satisfied with the way Suzaku treats Lelouch at first and also with how quickly he betrays Lelouch.
He surrendered Lelouch to Charles zi Britannia
One of the first betrayals Suzaku committed was against his old friend, bringing Lelouch back to the royal family.
In return, he wants to be promoted, which seems like a pretty callous move to woo an old friend, especially after all Lelouch has done for him.
While much of Lelouch and Suzaku’s relationship is focused on gaining the upper hand and then crushing their enemies, this is one of the worst betrayals Suzaku has committed in the series and it Not a time that fans can forget.
Suzaku always hides behind Lancelot
Suzaku tested a test Mecha, or Knightmare frame, called the Lancelot. He uses this Knightmare to terrorize his enemies, including Lelouch.
Although, Lancelot was never expected to be so successful, it is a happy coincidence for both Britannia and Suzaku that it works so well.
Lancelot is the factor that derails Lelouch’s plans and makes achieving his goal more difficult.
Yet even for viewers who aren’t on Lelouch’s side, Lancelot has made Suzaku less popular because it makes him more prone to violence, especially his delusional loyalty. We and the Britannians were harmful from the start.
This character killed his father
As Britannia invades and Japan is put in the worst position, Suzaku has yet to see the end of the violence. At least, he doesn’t see peace from his own father.
So Suzaku did what he thought he had to and he killed his father as a way to save more innocent lives.
However, after killing his father, the character was surrounded by guilt. Oddly enough, he also mingled with Britannia and is said to have made things worse for the innocent civilians he originally wanted to protect.
Suzaku abandoned Japan
The whole reason for killing Suzaku’s father was because he wanted to save the lives of the Japanese. He thought that if his father continued on his current path, all innocent lives would be taken and Japan would be completely destroyed.
However, once Britannia took over, Suzaku’s actions made no sense. He was fiercely loyal to Britannia and committed horrific acts of violence, many of which killed countless civilians he once claimed to protect in killing his father.
In the end, he chose Britannia over Japan.
He lets his guilt gnaw at him every day
Part of the reason why Suzaku quickly joined the Britannian army was that he was haunted by the guilt of killing his father. However, by letting this guilt destroy himself, Suzaku rendered his father’s death meaningless and caused the widespread damage he had been trying to prevent.
The guilt he suffers for killing his father follows him continuously throughout the work. Suzaku joined the army for that, however it seemed counterproductive, joining the army eventually led him to do terrible things, such as launching the destructive weapon FLEIJA.
Suzaku is too loyal to the royal family
One of the biggest mysteries in Code Geass is the question of why Suzaku Kururugi, the son of the former Prime Minister of Japan, decided on his own to not only surrender to the Britannia but also join a military force known for its ability their destructive power.
More puzzling is why Suzaku is so loyal to the Britannian cause. He betrayed his best friend for them, destroyed countless civilian lives for them, he even killed Lelouch for them. However, the motivation for him to do these things seems to be very thin.
He ignited the bomb of destruction FLEIJA
Launching FLEIJA has to be one of the worst things Suzaku has ever done, it’s one of the most hypocritical moves he’s made in Code Geass.
He claimed to want to save the lives of the Japanese, but that goal seems to have been dashed when he was pitted against his childhood friend (largely due to his own actions).
Shooting such a massive and highly destructive weapon proves that Suzaku doesn’t really care about saving innocent lives, or if he does, he’s very delusional about how to do so. .
Suzaku betrayed Euphemia’s memory
Euphemia’s demise is one of Code Geass’ saddest moments.
Lelouch’s Geass powers were overused and out of control, sending her into a killing spree, ending the lives of many innocent civilians. In the end, Lelouch had to order her to be killed, even though it was his fault.
Suzaku was determined to kill Zero because of this, in the end, he did, but did not pursue to the end (as did Nina) but switched from one side to the other. On top of that, Suzaku didn’t fulfill Euphie’s last wish.
It was Suzaku who killed Lelouch
While Lelouch proves himself to be an anti-hero who will do terrible things and commit epic acts of violence for what he considers good, watching him die at the hands of Suzaku is just right. appropriate and annoying for the viewer.
While Lelouch’s death was heartbreaking and a hugely impactful moment for the anime, audiences weren’t pleased with Suzaku for doing so.
In the end, the rivalry between the two old friends is too much for either of them to overcome, although it’s a fitting way to close the story, it certainly doesn’t make Suzaku any cuter. .
