DanMachi: Hestia Familia proves her strength even without a leader

During the season two premiere of DanMachi IV, Hestia Familia’s group is forced to fight against the Floor Boss without their strongest member.

While Bell and Ryuu were preoccupied with their leader as well as the unstoppable monster known as the Juggernaut, the rest of the Hestia Familia was suddenly attacked by a Floor Boss named Amphisbaena, who had turned pale. born two weeks earlier than expected.

An amazingly dangerous boss battle

As soon as the monster appeared, it immediately chased after Hestia Familia, even some members had the feeling that it was specifically hunting them. When it finds them, it proceeds to launch multiple attacks that, although not damaging to anyone in the party, completely trap them in the “cave of despair” and close all possible exits. If that wasn’t bad enough, Bell isn’t around his party at the moment, so the team took down their strongest member, which would wreak havoc on morale.

Unfortunately, the monster’s own abilities make it nearly impossible for their attacks to land, especially the crimson mist breath attack that can diffuse any magic it comes in contact with. Coupled with the blue flame attack that could even burn water, the party was in a rather dangerous situation even after they regained their confidence.

Episode 1 Setting up an impactful story

Although everything seemed grim, it was actually all thanks to Liliruca that they all survived. Since the start of the season, Lili has acted as the team’s main strategist and has so far managed to excel in that position thanks to the natural talent and coaching she received from Daphne. Realizing that the monster was just as vulnerable to shards as they were, she asked Mikoto to use her gravity magic to both constrain the monster’s movement and tie up the ceiling. While it can be a bit disappointing not to know how this fight ends, it’s important to remember that this episode is nothing short of spectacular. Unlike most other episodes in the series, Bell plays a very small role in the entire story, he and Ryuu are only shown for a few minutes on screen. This leaves most of the episode free to explore his party, which has received very little attention over the past few seasons. DanMachi may have Bell as its protagonist and has developed him a lot and quite well, but it definitely dropped the ball in that respect when it comes to the rest of the Hestia Familia. This season did a lot of work to correct those mistakes, but this episode ended up focusing on their growth. Hopefully the rest of the season does just as well.
