The anime will feature original character designs by Firefly Wedding's Oreko Tachibana
Kodoani.com – Shogakukan has just announced that the popular novel series The Dinner Table Detective (Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de) by Tokuya Higashigawa will be adapted into a television anime, expected to premiere in 2025. The information was revealed along with a main image, in which the butler character Kageyama appears prominently. With a calm demeanor, he lifted the lid of the silver plate, on which were two detectives standing – a detail that symbolizes “serving” mysterious cases.
The anime will feature the unique character designs of We have Tachibanaauthor famous for mangas such as Firefly Wedding and Promise Cinderella.

The story takes place in the Kunitachi area, Tokyo Reiko Hoshothe talented daughter of the owner of the world-famous Hōshō Group. Despite coming from a wealthy family, Reiko chose to become a detective. She cooperates with her superiors Inspector Kazamatsurison of the owner of Kazamatsuri Motors, to solve difficult cases.
The real highlight in the story, though, comes from KageyamaReiko's housekeeper and driver. With a calm appearance but sharp, even rude words, Kageyama always makes sharp judgments and is the one who solves all problems in cases.

Since its debut in 2007, The Dinner Table Detective has become one of the favorite works in the light detective genre. The novel series has inspired:
A television series in 2011. Special episodes in 2012 and 2013. A movie in 2013. In addition, there have been stage plays featuring the story.
Shogakukan published three main novel volumes between 2010 and 2012 and republished them in a “Best of” edition in 2019. Two new novels titled Shin Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de also came out in 2021 and January. September 2023.
