Summary
Oversummon, overwhelm and get over it! masterfully combines many classic isekai premises to give the main character superior powers in a subversive way. The manga justifies its general one-liners in a more satisfying way than its contemporaries, adding a degree of satirical self-awareness to the series. The unique instance of multiple powers is explained by a clever twist that eliminates them, in keeping with the accidental summoning premise.
Warning: Spoilers for Oversummoning, Overpowering, and Overcoming It! volume 1!!An ongoing manga titled Oversummon, overwhelm and get over it! expertly brings together many isekai premises to explain why the hero’s power is so superior. Better yet, the protagonist’s peculiar situation further explains the series’ decision to incorporate one of the genre’s worst tropes while doing so in a more satisfying way than most. other manga.even those that have been adapted into anime, like Am I Really the Strongest?
In cases where some of the lazier isekai are released, a god often bestows a major cheat on the hero about to receive the isekai for any number of trivial reasons, but the importance of one’s power they are completely misunderstood. In the case of Am I Really the Strongest?, which follows this particular blueprint, the resulting misinterpretation is based on the limitations of how that world captures and displays power levels.
While creatively simple, this oversimplification pales in comparison to Oversummon, Overpower, and Overkill! by writer Saitosa and artist Mukojima Kamome.
Perfect explanations for the corrupted power tropes in Isekai
Created by Saitosa & Mukojima Kamome
Over-summoning creates a unique case where Inori Takafuji receives isekai repeating every few minutes to worlds that basically summarize every genre imaginable, which leads to him He is blessed with new powers each time. This “glitch” is first explained by a completely new phenomenon that, although possessed by Oversummoning, fits reasonably well with the overall concept of isekai. Better yet, the manga then explains why this resulted in Takafuji getting more than one power by poking fun at a common summoning trope where he was essentially gaming the system .
The problem is that when Takafuji finally reached his destination, the manga had to come up with a believable explanation to rationalize how not just one but all of his countless powers could be misinterpreted. Incredibly, the manga introduces a phenomenon in which the ways in which these different abilities interact with each other in certain contexts cancel themselves out.
This merry-go-round is even more fun because Takafuji learned the fundamentals of each of his powers every time he got an isekai, leading the manga to create a steady stream of information explaining why. Why does he seem to have no power? This situation is further colored by the type of isekai he eventually finds himself participating in. Takafuji was the victim of an accidental summoning, so his seeming lack of powers fits that particular premise perfectly for obvious reasons.
This doesn’t even take into account all the other times the manga plays with other isekai genres in fun, unexpected ways beyond the first volume. Hope that, Oversummon, overwhelm and get over it! will be getting its own anime adaptation as there are other isekai though that take much lazier approaches to this story, but for now, fans can thanks to the release of this series by… J-Novel club.
