Recently, the Twitter accounts of some famous journalists have been suspended by this social network. These are all people who are said to have posted articles that reveal the personal and family information of the new Twitter CEO – Elon Musk.
According to known information, a number of journalists at famous stations such as CNN, The New York Times, The Washington Post … and many other names. Explaining the reason for the suspension of this account, the new owner of Twitter – billionaire Elon Musk said that these people had disclosed his and his family’s personal information. Elon Musk said that the ban on publishing personal information applies to all accounts using this social network, including journalists, in response to a Tweet asking about this: “Doxxing rules – ie. Twitter’s rules against sharing personal information apply to journalists as well as to others.”
Earlier, Elon Musk not only suspended but also threatened legal action against an account that tracks his private jet in real time by compiling publicly available data. “Criticize me all day,” Musk wrote, “but not providing personal information about my actual location and endangering my family.”
Before this move, Twitter users were reminded of Musk’s statement when he bought Twitter for $ 44 billion that he would maintain freedom of speech for users. A representative of The New York Times shared about this when a journalist had his account suspended: “The suspension of the Twitter accounts of several prominent journalists tonight, including Ryan Mac of The New York. Times, is confusing and unfortunate. Neither the editor nor Ryan have received any explanation as to why this happened. We hope that all journalists’ accounts are restored and that Twitter provides a satisfactory explanation for this action.”
CNN also expressed disagreement with this decision of Twitter but was not surprised. CNN said it has asked Twitter for an explanation and will be re-evaluating the relationship between the two sides based on Twitter’s response.
