This chapter opens with Laplace telling Tanya the story of her past. Tanya starts laughing at the beginning of the plot but Laplace gets annoyed when she learns that the story will get worse. She continues her story and tells Tanya that in her days of participating in the war, she used her magic nonstop because she was the great witch of the Nouhin empire.
Laplace says that she developed various spells for sorcerers and also provided valuable wisdom to sorcerers, helping them develop weapons. The great witch Laplace became the path to victory for the Nouhin empire but all the credit goes to Maxwell as she was like a dog to him at the time who only followed what he told her without ever defying orders.
Laplace said that Maxwell’s condition was terrible, and that his heart was black from the bottom of his heart. Maxwell held the position of Sorcerer Royal for a long time, but he could not achieve immortality no matter how much he aspired to it. Maxwell became blinded by jealousy and did something that until now has not been mentioned in any history books.
Maxwell committed a serious crime by creating a spell that could absorb citizens’ lifespans. He then infused that spell into the orichalcum metal and turned it into a gold coin so that the coin would continue to absorb the life of its user, a really clever plan. The gold coins made the Nouhin empire prosper, and all the longevity gained from the coins made Maxwell truly immortal.
Maxwell’s plan fell apart just before it was completed when one of the court magicians reported it to the emperor. Tanya listened attentively to the story and asked what happened next. Laplace smiled and said that Maxwell blamed her and left.
She went through several executions, but she didn’t die because she was immortal, even though she wished she could die from the pain.
Laplace said that she was sealed, and the orichalcum coins gradually disappeared. The history books have been edited, and that’s how Laplace’s name is synonymous with evil and evil. Tanya tells Laplace that she should have fought back because she was too strong.
