Kodoani.com – Magazine Shōnen Sunday S Zōkan of Shogakukan's November issue revealed on Wednesday that author Michiteru Kusaba will launch a new soccer manga titled Telstar ’86. The manga will officially launch in the magazine's next issue on the same day October 25.

Kusaba is a mangaka famous for his works about sports, especially football. He once built his reputation with the manga series Fantasistserialized in the magazine Weekly Shonen Sunday from 1999 to 2004, for a total of 25 episodes is released. This series later had a sequel titled Star playmakerwhich lasted from 2012 to 2015 and ended with 14 episodes.
Star playmaker has also been adapted into no OAVreleased with the eighth, ninth, and tenth volumes of the manga. Before that, manga Daiku no Hatō (The Ninth Wave) by Kusaba, published in 2017, just ended in April 2023. This work has lasted for 24 episodeswith the final volume published in July 2023.
Telstar ’86 promises to continue Kusaba's tradition with emotional stories about sports, especially football, in new and exciting contexts.
