Overmelding is unlocked through the quest “Melding Materia Muchly”, which can be obtained at level 25 and is not as easy as using the regular Melding feature. The best way in Overmelding is to start with the highest level Materia, as they have the highest chance of failure and the Overmeld’s success rate decreases as more tiles are available.
