Kodoani.com – 25 years ago, Sunrise launched GaoGaiGar: The King of Braves —the basis for their Brave (yuusha) anime series and a hit classic among mecha fans. To celebrate its big anniversary, they’re teaming up with Hobby Japan to launch a yuusha: Brave Universe Sworgrader title.
The series was announced via the GaoGaiGar 25th anniversary Twitter account and includes a poster introducing the new robot, the young supporting cast, and all of the main mechanics from the previous series. Sharp-eyed viewers might even catch sight of Baan Gaan, the main robot in the PlayStation Brave Saga game.
The serialization process will begin later this month. Hobby Japan and Sunrise are collaborating to plan the manga, which will be written by Infini-T Force: Arc to the Future writer Ukyō Kodachi and illustrated by Jinki: Extend Shirou Tsunashima author. The story is written by Hajime Yatate, supervised and based on story ideas by GaoGaiGar director, Yoshitomo Yonetani.
An opening trailer will also be shown for the web manga. Like the staff of the manga project itself, the staff for the anime is a glorious collection of mechanic greats, including:
Original Character Design: Shirou Tsunashima Cartoon Character Design: Yuka Aono Mechanical Design: Kunio Okawara, Toshinao Miyauchi Animation Mechanical Design: Hiroku Mutaguchi Production/Publishing: Hobby Japan
Some details have also been revealed for the project’s theme song. Titled “Ashita no Yuuki ni Hi wa Noboru”, the song will feature lyrics written by manga author Yonetani and composer Toshiyuki Watanabe. Mobile Suit Gundam Seed singer Nami Tamaki will perform the song.
More information will be available on the project’s official website in the future. For now, Kodoani knows that the web manga is slated to start publishing later this month. Visitors to the GaoGaiGar 25th Anniversary Exhibition will receive “Volume 0” of the manga and see the opening of Brave Universe Sworgrader.
For now, that’s all we know. In the meantime, there’s plenty for loyal yuusha fans to speculate on!
