Genshin Impact’s Ceiling Pot might seem like a simple way for travelers to have a place to stay, but it actually has some interesting lore behind it.

Also known as the Cedar Kettle or Realm Within, this special item allows the player to design a small world with different buildings, decorations, and other such furnishings. It is also possible to invite other players into the Teapot.
As a tool-type item, the Cedar Kettle is not consumable and is primarily used to enter the player’s home. Since its release in update 1.5, it has also been tweaked a few times. Most notably, the developers of Genshin Impact have added new interior trim models and improved the overall look and feel of the system.

What is known about Kettle Tran Ca comes from the quest “A Teapot to Call Home: Part I”. To unlock this quest, the player must first complete the “New Star Approach”, which is the third action piece in Liyue’s Magic Quest series, and must be at least an Adventurer Rank 30. The quest will then appear in the player’s diary and the granny’s traveller’s guide.
Talking with the grandma pot reveals much about the nature of the strange teapot and how it can accommodate a little world of its own. First, her grandmother’s inbreeding lineage grants magical abilities that normal people don’t have, and one such ability she has is called Extra Dimensional Creation. During the mission, the old lady explains that Sub-Space Creation allows her to create a pocket world. While this seems like a commendable achievement, the old man also said that it was nothing compared to what the liyule’s magic god could do, implying that Creating extra dimensions was something many elves could do. Multiplication is easy.
Regardless, Old Binh provides the traveler with a piece of jewelry with a pocket world of his own. This jewelry item is Kettle Ceiling Ca. Although the old Binh’s dialogue suggests that different items can act as a “jewelry” to create a miniature world. The old woman also revealed that Sub-Space Creation requires some rare items. These include Shimmersoil from China and Smaragdus Jadeite from The Chasm, among others.
To complete the mission, the Traveler simply needs to follow the lawyer Yanfei as she obtains the rare ore, Smaragdus Jadeite, through the means. The player can then return to the Old Man and claim a new home of their own – although there is one final interesting piece of information at the end of the mission. When Old Man Binh gives the visitor the Cedar Kettle, the old woman warns to be careful because if they drop it, she is not sure what might happen. It seems that some form of magic or energy is keeping the bag world stable inside warm, but damaging it can lead to troublesome consequences.
With the Cemetery now in the possession of the traveller, players can customize it to their liking with help from Tubby, the pot elf who lives there. This warm fairy Tubby never seems to leave the player’s pocket world and is only there to assist the player in building space. Even so, the warm fairy seems to be very knowledgeable, having a lot of knowledge about Microspace Creation and in general. Chubby is another traveling elf that appears in the cauldron on certain days, providing rare items.
If players design their bag worlds with different pieces of furniture, their Trust Rating will increase, granting them different rewards. It will also change Tubby’s appearance and dialogue, highlighting how the fairies happily support the Traveler and even open up about Liyue’s past.
So far, here are all the legends that have been revealed about Kettle and its inhabitants. Overall, Subspace Creation and its resulting pocket worlds make for interesting additions to the lore of Genshin Impact. They also provide a variety of materials that can be used in future content. Though until then, players can simply design their own miniature worlds and relax.
