The latest high-quality goods join Donguri Kyōwakoku (Acorn Republic)’s online and physical store Studio Ghibli is a battery powered bonsai furniture display set. They recreate iconic scenes from My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away, and they are capable of recreating rain, fountain and waterfall effects.
When you turn on the screen, water will naturally flow through the scene, accompanied by relaxing water sounds. There are two modes: one that turns off automatically five minutes after the first sound is played, and a permanent mode that can be maintained by plugging the monitor into a USB port. The screen is equipped with disc to avoid splashing and leakage.
The display is the first new product in the store’s “Watergarden” line in six years. They cost 17,600 yen (about US$136) each. The Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away versions are still available, although the My Neighbor Totoro version is now sold out. The online store “Moonlit Forest” version of the Princess Mononoke display, whose luminescent paint makes tree spirits dim in the dark, has also sold out.
