Friendship can happen between anyone because it is a relationship that transcends looks, race, and age. It can overcome the greatest barriers and you can move mountains with the love between friends. True friends are hard to find, so if they happen to come into your life, they must be cherished.

Watanabe Shinpei is the author and illustrator of the Ginka and Gluna manga. It belongs to the genre of friendship, adventure and fantasy and has been serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump. It was first published on September 12, 2022, and the series is still ongoing.

Here is a short summary of the story. After her parents died, a young girl named Gluna lived alone in a wooden house in the mountains. The heavy snow and Gluna’s inability to find food made her living conditions extremely difficult. But help came to her in the strangest, most magical way.

Gluna made a snowman outside her cabin and one day the snowman she made came to life by magic! The snowman’s name is Ginka and the two become best friends. Gluna has always dreamed of becoming a witch with great power.

Because Ginka had magic, the snowman taught Gluna everything she knew, and soon Gluna’s dream came true 5 years later. Now she is ready to leave the mountains once and for all but she faces a problem. Ginka can only survive in the mountains because she is made of snow.

With no intention of abandoning her friend, Gluna uses her magic to keep Ginka from melting and the two go on many adventures filled with action and magic.

Ginka & Gluena Chapter 17 Summary

Chapter 17’s name is “The Guildmaster”. Ginka and Gluna are fighting Hera, bringing her to her knees. Suddenly, another sorceress arrives and finally puts an end to Hera. The Sorceress arrives with a sword-wielding boy and the boy, named Locke, reveals that the Sorceress is none other than the Guild Master.

Ginka and Gluna stood dumbfounded as the Guild master introduced himself as Methuselah. She thanks them for helping her defeat Hera. Confused, Gluna asks Buchou if she and Hera are friends like she thinks she is.

Before answering, Buchou looked closely at Gluna and wondered what training she might have received from Ginka to become such a powerful magic user at such a young age. She later said that at one point, she and Hera were actually friends.

Buchou reveals that she was the one who trained Hera and several others to become powerful magicians. The Magic Society was formed to protect people from magical threats, but the mages she trained were swallowed up by greed.

The magicians considered ordinary humans as test subjects and slaughtered them for study. The country soon fell into ruin. After revealing these facts, she asks Locke to bring along the shard that Hera possesses and the Book of Synthesis.

She goes on to explain that when all the shards are collected, Ginka’s body will be fully restored. She asks Ginka to stop her disciples and invites Gluna to stay with her for as long as she wants because the task Gluna has to do is a difficult and dangerous one.

Gluna made sure she wanted to go with Ginka because it seemed so much more fun than just sitting around. Buchou tells them about a place ruled by evil and asks them to bring Locke as he will prove useful.
