This year’s October issue of Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Beam magazine revealed on Friday that Gou Tanabe will launch a manga based on HP Lovecraft’s The Dunwich Horror story in the magazine’s next issue on the 12th. The series will launch with color pages, and it will appear on the magazine’s cover.
Lovecraft’s horror novel revolves around the Whateley family and a mysterious monster in the isolated village of Dunwich, Massachusetts.
Tanabe launched a manga based on HP Lovecraft’s The Shadow Over Innsmouth (Innsmouth no Kage) in Monthly Comic Beam in May 2020, and ended the manga on the 12th. The story of a horror novel about a student conducted an antiques collecting tour during his trip to England. He travels to the seaport Innsmouth and there he socializes with strange people and witnesses disturbing events.
Tanabe launched a manga adaptation of HP Lovecraft à The Call of Cthulhu the story in Monthly Comic Beam in May 2019, and ended the manga in November 2019.
Both manga are part of a series of manga adaptations of Tanabe’s HP Lovecraft work. Dark Horse Comics published HP Lovecraft’s The Hound and other stories in August 2017, including “The Hound”, “The Temple”, and “The Nameless City”. Dark Horse Comics began publishing Tanabe’s At The Mountains Of Madness manga in June 2019. The series was nominated for Best Comic by the 46th Angoulême International Comics Festival in 2019.
Tanabe has also released manga based on Lovecraft’s The Color Out of Space and The Haunter of the Dark. He previously drew an adaptation of Lovecraft’s The Outsider. Tanabe ended her manga based on The Shadow Out of Time in November 2018.
