Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine S manga revolves around the new protagonist Asu Suzumura
This year’s 36/37th issue of Akita Shoten, Weekly Shonen Champion magazine announced on August 5 that Akatsuki and Kadokawa’s game Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine is getting a new manga adaptation of Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine. S will launch in the next issue on August 19. Kōichirō Hoshino will draw the manga, which will be a brand new story revolving around a rookie high school baseball player named Asu Suzumura.
Seven Seas published a two-volume manga adaptation of Hoshino Keishi’s novel Mythical Beast Investigator (Genjū Chōsain).
In the original Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine game, the player takes on the role of an unnamed young former senior baseball player who lost his baseball career after suffering an unspecified injury. The character moves to their grandmother’s hometown and enrolls in the local high school, determined to never enter the baseball world again. When the characters meet Tsubasa Arihara, they are persuaded to become managers of the school’s baseball team, and take the team to the high school national league in Koshien.
In the game, players gather team members (there are more than 50 characters in the game) and experience the story of the team members. Players also train members to improve their skills, and put members into the game to compete. The player must then decide the order in which to hit the ball.
The game launched on iOS and Android devices in June 2017. The game is free to play with in-game items available for purchase.
The game was adapted into an anime series that premiered in Japan in May 2019. Crunchyroll watched the series live as it aired. Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime and released it on Blu-ray on April 14.
The franchise also has a new live-action original series titled Hachigatsu wa Yoru no batting Center de. (August for Nights at the Batting Center) premieres on July 7.
