The combined 36th and 37th issues of Kodansha’s Young Magazine revealed on August 8 that the manga Gorillaman 40 Harold Sakuishi’s manga will end in the magazine’s next issue on August 22. The manga’s third volume will ship on September 6.
Sakuishi just resumed the manga in Young Magazine on March 28 earlier this year.
Sakuishi re-launched his Gorillaman manga titled Gorillaman 40 as a two-chapter manga in 2020 as part of Weekly Young Magazine’s 40th anniversary celebration. The manga’s second compiled book volume was released on June 6.
Sakuishi launched the original Gorillaman comedy manga in 1988 as his debut, and the manga has a total of 19 volumes. The story focuses on Sadaharu Ikedo, aka Gorillaman. He transfers to a new high school, and although he’s very shy, for some reason, he gets along with the delinquent kids in his class. His classmates nicknamed him Gorillaman based on his appearance. Gorillaman 40 follows Sadaharu at 40.
The original series adapted for a two-volume OVA in 1992-1993.
Sakuishi put his 7-nin no Shakespear: Non Sanz Droict (Seven Shakespeares: Not Without Right) manga on an indefinite hiatus in April 2020. Sakuishi launched the Seven Shakespeares sequel manga (7 -nin no Shakespeare) in Kodansha’s Young Magazine in December 2016. Digital reading platform Comixology launched the original Seven Shakespeares manga on the service as a Comixology Original in July 2018.
Sakuishi launched the Beck manga in Kodansha’s Monthly Shōnen Magazine in July 1999, and ended it in 2008. Kodansha has published 34 compiled book volumes for the manga. Tokyopop published 14 volumes of the manga between 2005 and 2008. The manga inspired a 26-episode television anime in 2004, as well as a live-action film in 2010.
