The replacement for Worlds Wild Rift when it was wiped out by Riot Games is an Asia-only tournament. The news made fans surprised and regretful.

The Riot Games community recently received a shocking news when League of Legends: Wild Rift, Icons (Icons Global Championship) – the biggest tournament of the year similar to the League of Legends World Championship was suddenly wiped out by Riot Games. Accordingly, this tournament will be completely changed into a tournament only in Asia, making fans surprised.

The fact that Riot Games announced the removal of the Icons tournament system and all related tournaments outside of Asia made people wonder. Because this tournament has the presence of 24 international teams, in 2022 Nova Esports was crowned champion and spent 640,000 USD (about 15.9 billion VND) in prize money.

Known to replace the Icons name, Riot Games organizes a tournament with a similar large scale but exclusively for Asia, temporarily called Wild Rift Asia League. Accordingly, to participate in this tournament 12 teams from WRL (China’s Wild Rift tournament) and 8 teams from other regions in Asia will participate.

In addition, for teams outside of Asia, Riot Games also allows and is ready for third parties to organize Wild Rift tournaments. This way, Riot Games can fully invest in the tournament called Wild Rift Asia League. From the announcements from Riot Games, this top Asian tournament will be held in April 2023.
