Kodoani.com – Praised for his excellent portrayal of a deaf character, Gangsta is a pretty popular anime when it first debuted in 2015. With a rating of 7.4 stars out of 10 on MyAnimeList, it’s surprising that the anime never got the second season it deserved.
Gangsta is an excellent series filled with crime and all kinds of gripping action. It’s definitely not a teen or kids series, so its rating is 17 and up. The plot of Gangsta
Gangsta Following in the footsteps of two “gangsters”, Worick Arcangelo and Nicolas Brown living in the corrupt city of Ergastulum. Together, they take on odd jobs that others can’t – often deployed by city-run bandits or local police forces. Ergastulum is rife with prostitutes, dirty cops, and all sorts of trouble around its streets.
After defeating a local gang, they meet Alex Bendetto, a prostitute with amnesia. Taking pity on her, Worick insists on bringing her in and Alex agrees.
The main characters in Gangsta
Gangsta revolves around three main characters: Nic, Worick and Alex. Worick and Nic are partners working together to stop local crime or do the dirty work – whatever pays them the most. Alex is the sole survivor of a murdered gang. They all have a tragic past worse than the reader can imagine.
Worick has worked as a gigolo since his early teenage years and considers this his main source of income. The guy and Nic have been together since they were kids; Worick’s abusive father hired Nic to be Worick’s bodyguard. When Worick’s father raised his hand against his son too many times, Woricks allowed Nic to slaughter his family. Worick wears an eye patch over his left eye, hiding the injury his father inflicted after extinguishing a burning cigarette in his eye.
Nic is known as a “Twilight” – a person who displays superhuman strength and abilities. The Twilights get their abilities from a potion called Celebrer. Nic’s father was a soldier in the army while his mother was a Twilight prostitute. His father murdered his mother shortly after Nic was born, abusing him as he grew up. Nic has a hearing impairment, often communicating in sign language. However, Nic can read lips very well and he can speak, but he rarely chooses to do so. Like all the other Twilights, Nic wears a pair of dog tags around his neck, identifying his name, date of birth, and rank.
At the beginning of Gangsta, Alex works as a prostitute. She left that lifestyle behind after meeting Nic and Worick, taking a job as their “secretary”. Alex’s former boss, Barry Abbott, was the leader of the gang killed by Nic and Worick, leaving Alex abandoned after his death. While they were together, Barry drugged Alex several times to keep her submissive, so her memories are hazy. Alex is a calm and caring person who opposes Nic and Worick’s rough lifestyle, making Alex’s new life begin to be full of chaos.

Anime Gangsta released in 2015, based on the manga, created in 2011 by Kohske. The anime received a relatively short season with only twelve episodes.
