The plot of Solo Leveling takes place in a world where monsters run freely and pose a dangerous threat to humanity. Those who possess the power to hunt these heartless creatures are called “Hunters” and are tasked with destroying all monsters that enter the human world.
Sung Jinwoo is an E-rank hunter who cannot fight any powerful monsters and spends most of his time in lower dungeons, collecting whatever money he can find with how to kill less powerful monsters. Things became more drastic when Jinwoo received a mysterious power that allowed him to level up as a Hunter.
Solo Leveling chronicles Jinwoo’s journey from an E-rank hunter to an S-rank hunter respected by everyone around him. With strange new monsters, formidable enemies, and interesting friends, Solo Leveling will be an exciting anime that has much to look forward to.
Sung Jinwoo will be voiced by Taito Ban, Yoo Jin Ho by Genta Nakamura and Sung Jin Ah by Haruna Mikawa. Taito Ban has previously voiced famous characters such as Nagahiro in Pretty Boy Detective Club and Akira in Yakitori.
Introduction to Anime
Humanity experiences a tragedy after a mysterious portal opens and allows all sorts of monsters to enter Earth. Soon, those skilled enough to fight these creatures began calling themselves Hunters and were tasked with protecting others.
Their only job is to destroy stubborn and dangerous monsters and prevent humanity from becoming extinct. Sung Jinwoo called himself a hunter but was ranked E, meaning he didn’t have any skills to fight these bloodthirsty murderers.
He spent his days fighting in low-ranked dungeons and lived off the little money he earned by working all his life. Jinwoo may have a reputation for being weak, but after falling into a double dungeon and nearly dying, he was given strange powers by a program called “The System”.
The system chose Sung Jinwoo as the only player in their program who would be able to level up much faster than others and even turn those he killed into his loyal minions. Jinwoo could see the list of tasks he would have to do to increase his rank in a short time.
With this new power and friends on his side, Sung Jinwoo begins to fight exciting new monsters and other cruel humans trying to bring him down. Jinwoo also tries to find out who the System is and why he is the only one to receive this strange but very influential power.
When Jinwoo became strong enough to become a Great Hunter, he realized that monsters were not the only threat to humanity. Two groups of humanoids known as Rulers and Monarchs also played a huge role in the chaos that humans experienced.
A new web novel spin-off titled Solo Leveling: Ragnarok is also in the works, giving the anime more plot to develop beyond the first season.
