Hunter x Hunter Chap 402 will continue the Succession Contest Arc, where Beyond Netero leads an exhibition into the Dark Continent on behalf of King Nasubi, aboard the Black Whale 1. Along the way, King Nasubi declares a battle to the death between ten his four princes to compete for a successor.
We'll see more of the aftermath of Longhi revealing that she is Beyond's daughter and her backstory. She plans to kill the winner of a death match between princes, partly as revenge for Beyond concealing her lineage from her.
She noted that there is a long-standing peace agreement between the royal family and that there must be a representative in Room 1014 at a certain time to maintain the treaty.
Kurapika and Bill don't know how to react after their confrontation, and their decisions will have implications throughout this arc. Meanwhile, Beyond remains in his cell, and in 401 we see him becoming restless, searching for more reading material and provoking his guards.
At the end of the chapter, we hear that he wants to meet someone, even though that person is still in limbo. Could it be Longhi? Not likely after all this time, but perhaps he's more aware of the impending chaos than we think.
