A 34-year-old man in Singapore has been fined for sending “private” photos of his wife to his friends.
This husband has been accused of insulting the honor and dignity of his wife. This man is currently doing freelance business related to vehicles.
Accordingly, during about half a year from the end of 2018 to May 2019, this husband sent sensitive photos of his wife to another friend of his, also a male. Many of the photos show his wife in her underwear or even naked.
But the husband’s friend also felt bad when he saw the photos and advised him to stay awake to stop this action. However, he replied:
“It’s okay, the couple is very open.”
By May 2019, the couple had signed the divorce papers, but it was not until a while later that the wife learned that her ex-husband had sent nude photos of her to a few of his friends without consent. idea from myself.
At the end of 2019, the wife reported the incident to the police and filed a lawsuit against her ex-husband.
Initially, the prosecution decided that the ex-husband had to pay 2,000 SGD (US$1,393) because the case did not seem to be very serious, the photos did not reveal the sensitive part of the girl. Furthermore, the wife was not caught and the husband was determined to have no signs of premeditated crime.
However, district judge Janet Wang disagreed with this ruling.
“It’s not impossible to catch it, it’s clear that the wife discovered it in time and reported it to the police.”
Prosecutors said that when the photos were released, the couple was not divorced. The husband signed the divorce papers in May 2019 and the photos had been shared with his friends months earlier.
Moreover, the victim alleged that 2 friends were allowed to share the photos, when in fact only 1 person. This person will not be charged or warned.
The ex-husband’s lawyer Narendra Mudaliar agreed to a settlement of SGD 2,000 because his client was very cooperative in the investigation and the matter was “not as serious” as the wife said.
“My client deeply regrets this behavior, it was his mistake, in part due to the effects of his impending marriage.”
Currently, the ex-husband is unemployed, has no stable income and has to live at his mother’s house. This person asked for permission to pay monthly compensation.
The two parties eventually agreed to a fine of 3,500 SGD (US$2,437), about 60 million VND and will be “paid by the husband”.
The judge said:
“Hopefully the fine will serve as a warning for your behavior.”
