Kylie Jenner is associated with many names: reality TV star, makeup industry icon, businesswoman, billionaire and now “climate criminal”.
The ‘The Kardashians’ star has been heavily criticized for using a private jet just to take a 12-minute flight from Camarillo (California) to Van Nuys (California) on July 12. The whole way is only about 64 km long and traveling by car takes about 40 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.
Jenner’s flight data was compiled by CelebJets – a famous jet-tracking expert on Twitter. Initially, some information even said that the flight lasted only 3 minutes, but later modified.
CelebJets often list flight time, distance traveled, and how many kilograms of fuel the plane spent in flight, as well as fuel costs and carbon dioxide emissions incurred. However, when it was Jenner’s turn, the information was not disclosed. The young billionaire’s jet then continued to fly from Van Nuys to Palm Springs in a 28-minute trip on the same day.
Some users on Twitter said: “The media needs to do a story about her, who uses her plane just to fly and tens of kilometers. She uses the plane like a car. Call her name out! Everyone is annoyed with celebrities talking about how people are destroying the environment when they are the ones doing it.”
There are still some opinions in favor of the 24-year-old businesswoman. Some people wrote that Jenner was not on the flight and the plane was undergoing maintenance, but there is no information to confirm this opinion.
On July 15, a few days after the flight, the reality star posted a picture of her and her boyfriend Travis Scott cuddling, standing between two jets and a waiting Maybach. Her caption was: “Do you want mine or yours?” It was the photo that sparked the controversy once again. Many people believe that Jenner is deliberately responding to criticisms of her the day before.
A representative for the founder of Kylie Cosmetics declined to comment.
