The release of the Chinese donghua Dragon Raja (Long Zu) in Japan was announced this April. This officially confirms the recent teaser announcement from Aniplex depicting one of the series’ panels for the livestream announcement. Xin Wang directed the trailer, animated by HANABARA Animation. Kohta Yamamoto, who works in donghua, also composed the music for the promotional video:
The main cast of the Japanese version includes Daiki Yamashita as Mingfei Lu, Kaede Hondo as Motong Chen and Ayumu Murase as Mingze Lu.
The anime will use the title Long Zu -The Blazing Dawn-, which previously revealed the plot as:Provisional number: AD0013You have been selected as the nominated student. Dragon Raja (Long Zu) is adapted from the light novel series of the same name by Jiang Nan, first released in 2010. The donghua series aired from August to November 2022 with 16 episodes. Studio Garden Culture animated the series, which was produced by Tencent Penguin Pictures. Xin Wang both directed and wrote the script. Theme songs include “Ivory Tower” by Hiroyuki Sawano with SennaRin as the opening theme and “Yong Ye” by Hu Xia as the ending theme.
The release of the donghua series in Japan also confirms 2023 media reports that Tencent Video and Aniplex will distribute the series worldwide.
