The following article contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, Episode 20.
Jujutsu Kaisen fans on social media are enthralled by Todo’s recent showdown with Mahito in the most recent episode of the anime.
The last few episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen focus on Yuji’s attempt to take down Mahito, who conspired with Pseudo-Geto to seal Satoru Gojo during the Shibuya Incident. At one point, Todo entered the fight to support Yuji. This leads to a particularly tense scene of Todo building up energy through his Black Lightning technique, then delivering a devastating blow. Immediately after the episode premiered, many JJK fans shared the clip on X (formerly Twitter), often joking about its over-the-top hilarious delivery, and one user suggested that is “the funniest crazy raw footage ever”.

Jujutsu Kaisen fans expressed disappointment over a “Part 3” tease posted by user X posing as the franchise’s creator.
Although Yuji appeared in the episode, most fan reactions focused on Todo and his admirable dedication to his best friend. One user called him “the man of the moment,” while another compared him to All Might, a major icon in Kohei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia series. Many viewers also took the time to praise the animation team for their work on set, which may have required more time and resources than other parts of the episode. “This Todo scene is beautifully animated…reminds me of Yutaka Nakamura’s work on My Hero Academia and Mob Psycho 100,” one user wrote. Another fan shared a similarly impressive scene of Todo using his signature “Boogie Woogie” technique against Mahito.
The JJK team’s ability to produce such detailed animation is even more remarkable considering the allegedly problematic working conditions at MAPPA. Current and former employees have accused the studio of delaying animator salaries and overworking employees to the point of exhaustion. The anime series’ animation director, Terumi Nishii, who is part of the larger movement to improve working conditions for animators, argues that this issue goes beyond MAPPA and will eventually cause the entire The anime industry collapsed without intervention.

Despite the controversy surrounding MAPPA, Jujutsu Kaisen shows no signs of decreasing viewership. Since the beginning of Season 2, Jujutsu Kaisen has also been a frequent topic on X’s trending list. Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen manga also continues to perform well in Japan. According to Oricon, JJK is the second best-selling manga title in 2023, surpassing Eiichiro Oda’s iconic One Piece series with more than 1.36 million copies.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 is now streaming on Crunchyroll. Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen manga is now available in English on VIZ Media.
