What happened in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode #8?
Episode 8 of season 2 officially kicks off the Mysterious Shibuya Incident, with Gojo entering the Veil that Geto and his Curses have set up around the district. As Gojo searches for the culprit, Yuji and Mei Mei seek to discover the origin of the secondary veil that appeared. This leads Yuji to fight the Curse of the Locust and defeat it easily. From this curse, Yuji learned that one of Jujutsu Kaisen’s most dangerous enemies, Mahito, was the cause of the second curtain. Meanwhile, Gojo begins a war with Curses Jogo and Hanami, who use brutal tactics of killing and intimidating various civilians to prevent Gojo from fighting at his best.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode #9 Will Bring Gojo’s War to a Climax
The end of episode #8 reveals that the Disaster Curse had to keep Gojo at bay for 20 minutes before Suguru Geto entered the fight with something that was supposed to defeat him. With a typical Jujutsu Kaisen episode being around 20 minutes long, episode #9 could focus entirely on Gojo’s fight with Jogo and Hanami, ending with Geto making his grand entrance. If that’s the case, episode #9 is sure to be a visual spectacle that fully showcases Jujutsu Kaisen’s amazing fight animation. However, this could also prolong the fight unnaturally, so the episode could also reveal what other characters are doing in Shibuya.
With the focus Yuji gets in episode #8, his chase of Mahito will be an intriguing subplot in episode #9. Megumi and Nobara were also involved in the Shibuya Incident so they could also get some screen time. Regardless of what happens beyond Gojo’s fight, however, episode #8 showed that the Shibuya Incident is off to an excellent start, and that Studio MAPPA will likely maintain this standard of excellence for now. Jujutsu Kaisen move forward.
Do not miss Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 9 when it airs on Crunchyroll on September 21, 2023.
